this post is sponsored by Craftsy, an online community of makers and home to tons and tons of amazing online classes, and OnlineFabricStore.net - the best online fabric store there ever was! both of them have been so great throughout the summer of no pants and i urge you to check them out!
i am a life long learner - i will never be done trying to learn new things, both big and small. i have been on a sewing kick lately, and i have been a sponge during the summer of no pants. i am loving all of the amazing projects that are coming out of this!
recently, Craftsy asked me if i wanted to take one of their online classes - and really, how could i not?! since i am new to this clothing sewing thing, i decided to take the Sewing Studio class because it is full of great basic sewing skills.
Craftsy also asked me if i wanted to extend a 50% discount for this same class to my readers so we can take it together - well duh! of course i want you guys to take it with me!! so here is the link for the discounted class - just go there and it will give you half off the total price of the class!
let me tell you guys - i have already watched all of the pieces of this class and it is so seriously great! you learn all about your machine and how to make it work harder for you! you learn basic skills and various seams - you get to make a pillow during the class and my favorite part - a super sassy pencil skirt!
the teacher, diana, is so great and on Craftsy, you can watch a little or a lot at once! so everything totally operates on your schedule. you can even take notes right in line with the video - perfect for me, because i have a feeling sewing in an invisible zipper for my pencil skirt may challenge me ha! did you know you need a different foot for your sewing machine to sew invisible zippers?! i mean... i'm going to be pro after this class..
seriously, if this Craftsy class can teach me to sew, you will have zero problems!! so grab some fabric and let's do this jam!
i already have all of my materials ready, complete with some killer fabric from OnlineFabricStore.net. they are the second half of my sewing dream team - i don't exactly live in the sewing capital of the world, so my fabric store options are pretty sad - which makes shopping online so amazing! and they carry my faaaavvorite fabric line, michael miller. bright, cheery, perfection.
my blue lattice fabric is michael miller from OnlineFabricStore and i'm sad to say the black and white polka dots are sold out, but they still have the reverse of it in their online selection, so you could switch it up a little. the polka dots fabric is a great linen - and the blue lattice is a heavier cotton. i still haven't picked which one will be the skirt and which one will be the pillow. all i knew was i couldn't live without either of them!
what do you think?! i mean, i couldn't be more excited to take this Craftsy class and the fact that i get to offer it to you at such a crazy discount makes me so so happy!! so, stop by OnlineFabricStore - pick out some fab fabrics and meet me in the classroom!
and in case you want to show the fantastic sponsors of this post - and the summer of no pants - some serious love, you can shout out to them in all their social sectors - just make sure to use the hashtag #SONP2013 so we can follow along too :)
